For the first project in Metals 1, students were to explore the materiality of tin plated steel. We created a pile of flat, rolled, and bent shapes. Choosing one, we were to create a larger form using multiples of the shape.
My shape originated as a flat square, 3”x3” that I folded with the finger break. I then constructed smaller scales of the shape, ending with a 1:2:3 fractal. This fractal allowed for the implications of a perfect cube to exist within the form.
The shapes are connected by one type of clip that also allows for simple, finished edges.
