Artist Statement about Body Alchemy.
Blending Analog Photographic Chemistry and Digital Technology to explore the human form through transmutation.
In this project, the naked human body becomes the canvas for a transformative process into a new visual expression, because it goes far beyond the original beauty and sensuality of the figure which originated the visuals in the first place, the explicit view disappears and the transmutation, the change of values, occurs by using combined analog (darkroom) and digital (lightroom) techniques.
The Chemo-Digital Prints, developed through a long period of time, consist of chemically modified prints, done in the darkroom with traditional and experimental black and white techniques, which are later scanned and post-processed in Photoshop and other applications. These prints form the basis of this still ongoing project, which promises to accompany me for many many years, probably till the end my life in this planet.
