NOW TV Esports Industry Awards

About the project
Esports is when people play computer games against each other competitively. It’s the fastest growing spectator sport in the world, attracting huge sponsorship deals and by the end of 2017, annual revenues are set to exceed $1B. Esports is becoming a big deal to gamers and plans are in place for competitive video gaming to appear at the 2022 Asian Games with the Olympics to follow!

The NOW TV Esports Industry Awards recognises excellence in esports around the globe in a prestigious ceremony every November. Awards are handed out to the winners of categories such as; ‘Best Team’, ‘Esports Game of the Year’ and ‘Streaming Platform of the Year’
My involvement
The brief for this project was to develop a CMS driven website that would appeal to the gaming industry. The site required a bespoke voting and nomination process that would allow users to directly take part in awards process.
As a part-time gaming nerd myself, I was very excited to work on this! My role was to develop a custom WordPress theme on behalf of Sizzle Creative. In addition, I helped develop a streamlined user interface for the nomination and voting process using HTML5, JS, SVG & GSAP web animation.
Award nominated
The finished product was received with outstanding feedback. Here is what the director had to say about the project:

"The project has been a monumental success for our client ‘The NOW TV Esports Industry Awards’. Since voting went live on their new 2017 website, NOW TV EIAs have had an incredible 424,300 votes in just 10 weeks! On top of the 17,000 nominations – this represents a massive 6304% increase on 2016 conversions. There is still a 7 week window until the awards night and we are estimating final figures to surpass 650,000 nominations/votes."

In addition, the project was shortlisted for The National Digital Awards – Website Development Project of the Year.
