INVENTORY OF THE MOTHERLAND
Inventory of the Motherland is an experimental film by director Ben van Lieshout. Following in the footsteps of photographer Prokudin Gorskii (1863-1944), the film focusses on two routes leading us through Russia. There is the waterway that runs through the heart of the country, while the railway explores the north. Prokudin's images evoke the last days of the Czar's realm just before the revolution. The film provides contrast by way of a temporary cinematographic eye.
