An ongoing project from 2011 onwards to showcase Filipino mythological creatures and their stories.
Manananggal
A Manananggal is the Filipino counterpart of the vampire.
The creature is “capable of severing its upper torso in order to fly into the night with huge bat-like wings to prey on unsuspecting, pregnant women in their homes; using an elongated proboscis-like tongue, it sucks the hearts of fetuses or the blood of an unsuspecting, sleeping victim. It is known to whip its hair in urban forests, causing hurricanes all over the globe. The severed lower torso is left standing, and it is said to be the more vulnerable of the two halves.”
* “Akin na ang baby mo” = Give me your baby!
Nuno Sa Punso
Nuno sa Punso, which literally translates into ancestor of the anthill, is a vengeful goblin who does harm to those who destroy/disturb his mound.
*Tabi Tabi Po - Please move to the side I will be passing by --> Filipino phrase used to warn evil creatures/spirits when someone wants to pass through the creatures' territories.
Shokoy
The Shokoy is the Filipino counterpart of a merman. Unlike its close relatives, the Shokoy is essentially a green-scaled humanoid fish with gills and fins and webbed feet.
Kapre
Kapre = a Filipino mythological creature that’s tall, hairy, and is always sporting a tobacco cigar or pipe. They say that if a Kapre is attracted to a woman, he will follow her throughout life.

*Nagmamahal, Kapre = Love, Kapre
*Malapit na! = coming soon!
Bungisngis is Philippine counterpart of a giant cyclops. This giant,is said to be always laughing. Therefore, they named it Bungingis, derived from the Tagalog word ngisi which means "to giggle".
Tikbalang
The Tikbalang is half-man, half-horse creature known for its speed and mischievous nature. It is said to lurk in the mountains and forests of the Philippines. Some say it is a mythical spirit that guards the gateway to the Skyworld.  Others believe it is a demon who is determined to cause trouble for those who cross its path.
This is what happens when Filipino mythical monsters star in blockbuster movies.
The concepts are based on the stories behind the creatures
