The brief for this project required us to create a self promotion project that showcased our skills learnt
over the last three years and through this we also had to create an identity for ourselves as a designer
and communicate this over a number of platforms.
My concept for my self promotion project was inspired by my dream to one day own a small business
designing ‘quirky’ designer goods. For this project I look at spaces that inspire me most and the closest one
to my heart is my room.I enjoy spending time in this space and wherever I go, big or small I always make
it my own.Through basing my concept around my room and drawing inspiration from objects, patterns and
textiles this allowed me to also look at other types of design that I am interested in such as interiors and
applied design.
My choice of execution for this project was very playful and fun and brought all of these elements of design
together in one. The project is based around an interactive swatch book that one receives in a Quirky Girl
kit box.The swatch book consists of 5 touch points which one will interact with whilst reading the book.
After you have complete each interactive component you then receive a ‘Quirky Girl’ designer pin.Once you
have received all 5 pins you will be invite to the exhibition where the final installation will be held. The whole
concept of having the swatch book as my main element of my project is because it is a ‘taster’ and almost an
invite to my final third year exhibition.

Why Quirky Girl?
The word quirky is a word that I often use to describe my style of work and myself.
The Quirky Girl logo also has a pink giraffe on it which is an object that I actually
have in my room. My pink giraffe is also something that I feel represents me most
as it is a normal animal but because it’s pink its a little bit quirky and different.
