Animation - Kolding Designschool, 2017
Assignment: Make a visual of an instrument from the music piece "The young persons guide to the ocestra" by Benjamin Britten. I got the flutes.
Proces: I started out drawing the melody pattern I sensed by listening to the flutes. Then I work on a moodboard to get a better idea of what the flutes (2 x flute + piccolo) contains: How is the shape on your mouth when you play it, how to play it, what does the instrument look like and which shape do I think the sound is. In my proces I also made a circle library to get a better idea of what the sound should look like. At the end I made a grid to make sure to get as clear and simple visual as possible.
I started to look at the movement of the flute and was also looking at the instrument and trying to figure out, what I thought the sound would look like.
