Amman Design Week - 2017
Gift Shop
"Amman Design Week is an annual immersive experience in design. Focused on creating a forum for learning, exchange and collaboration. The second edition took place from 6 - 14 October 2017."
Following the 2017 theme of "movement", the Gift Shop was designed to convey vertical and horizontal movements. The challenge was to use only the honeycomb cardboard; a material that is usually seen as fixed and rigid. Horizontal movement was achieved by playing with the spacing between the vertical shelves' dividers, and the size of the honeycomb cell (thickness of the board), from big to small. While vertical movement was created in the center of the gift shop, by changing the levels of concrete blocks, cardboard blocks and light pendants. Moreover, some shelves were designed as hammocks, where light weight products can sit and light can cast shadows through.
