Croke Park

Vision

Croke Park, Ireland’s iconic national stadium, holds up to 80,000 people at sporting and music events, hosts conferences and business meetings and is home to a major sporting museum. It has over 5,000 signs within the complex.

We were asked to improve on the stadium’s existing directional, location and information signage, and to develop a system and set of principles for future use in the design and production of all signage.
The client needed an impactful, practical and effective signage system to help visitors navigate the stadium easily, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s leading stadiums and strengthening the Croke Park brand.

Solution
Studying the stadium’s lines, traffic flows and colour schemes, we identified required improvements and developed a comprehensive signage scheme. We produced signage guidelines setting out rules for the layout, production and positioning of signs, according to each sign type, purpose and communication objective. Layout principles include guidance on brand colours, typefaces and language hierarchy. The guidelines also provide specifications of materials to be used in the production of signs, providing for different levels of materials for different requirements.
