I’m life coach and counselor Peter Winslow. I’d like to begin on this Mother’s Day by expressing my best wishes to all the mothers in our life coaching group. If you are a mother, if you know a mother or if you know anyone who ever had a mother—I wish you (and them) a wonderful weekend.

The relationship between mother and child is often cited as the most natural expression of unconditional love we can ever know, although in many cases it may have seemed like anything but. A deeper understanding along with mindful cooperation can often provide new meaning to the mother/child relationship wherever useful or needed.

In nature, mutual relationships often form between unlikely pairs: a bee and a flower, a bird and a rhinoceros, small fish and sharks, ant colonies and a tree; but nature also shows us instances of constant competition in which only the strongest can and will survive. Given the choice, most of us would rather choose the more peaceful path of cooperation and understanding over one of challenge and destruction.

We know that together we can experience something far greater than what we can create alone and yet true understanding and acceptance of others remains one of the greatest challenges we ever face. We may often disagree about how to go about our lives; priorities may differ and personal methods remain mismatched yet in the end, cooperation and understanding between individuals offers the greatest benefits we have the fortune and opportunity to experience.
