Maklemore's Ale House and Bistro Website
Maklemore's Ale House and Bistro is a restaurant that began as idea for a project for two University of Texas students, and the project became a reality in 2014. The restaurant had the best beer selection in town, great food, no graphic design, and was two blocks away from my apartment. We replaced the initial print menus with new designs, and that branding carried over to the website.
Since Nacogdoches is a small college town (population: 33K), the population can seemingly double during large events at the university. With those possible customers in mind, the website was built to reach people searching on their phone for a place to eat. Since that might be the most impatient of searches, I wanted all the key information to be immediately apparent and quickly delivered.
Food Menu
The menu is pretty large, so I created the food menu on one page with bookmark. The navigation on the left is static once the user scrolls past the header image (using the JavaScript option of Bootstrap's Affix feature).
Beer Menu
The beer selection at Maklemore's separates it from the rest of the restaurants and bars in the area, so it definitely deserved its own page. The list also helped save on printing costs whenever distributors added or discontinued a beer.
