"Tryg" rescue ladder, seaside at Havnegade. The idea of the design was to create an object that would be associated with the harbour and the sea, and not the city and the street. The conceptual motive is a vertical element that stands in water, aspiring from the pier and without touching the actual surface of the land.
The ladder is made of fibreglass reinforced polyurethan of different degree of density, according to the structure of each part (the steps are made in hard PU to be stiff whereas the beams are made softer to resist impact and material deformation) Components of stainless steel is inserted into the form before casting. In total the ladder is casted in 5 forms, whereas the length of a form can be shortened, to allow the production of ladders with a length in modular steps.
The “Tryg” lifebuoy is included as a regular part of the ladder setup and together they form an icon that clearly signals its location. At the same time the lifebuoy is blocking the ladder and suggests that the ladder is reserved for emergency situations. To ascend or descend the ladder the brace and lifebuoy is pushed or pulled open. The spring loaded pivot  closes the brace again.
Visualization day / night with LED-mark. On each side of the post is fitted a white light flashing LED 8x9 cm. The LED is a waterproof closed unit and is normally used for safety in traffic where its inserted into the pavement.
