Choreogram

FAITH, this was the theme proposed by my Final Project tutor. I suggested that FAITH can be found in the dance. Since prehistoric times humans have used dance to invoke gods and make rituals. Dancing is innate, vital and interpretative. Innate, because babies start dancing automatically when they hear music; vital, since the dance fosters social relationships and connections between people, providing happiness, security, confidence, balance, creativity, and a large amount of positive responses; and interpretative, because we are all able to understand and decode the emotions and feelings that the dance transmits, irrespective of gender or origin. Hence, I decided to create the universal language of dance.

Dance and Music are complementary; one cannot work without the other. Therefore, I propose an iconography with similar aspects to the musical language, but far more intuitive, based on the basic forms of the graphic design: the circle, the triangle and the square. From these three signs emerged Choreogram (choreo, from Greek to dance, and grama from Greek to write).
Some of the determined parameters: placement, rhythm, sex, acceleration, pause, direction and movement.
