枫桥夜泊字体实验 / Experimental Font Design

我尝试将园林设计的手法引入汉字的字体设计之中，希望能产生一种新的阅读体验。即一个字是一个「小景」，多个字组合成的文句就成为了一个「园林」，人在阅读这些文字时，视线犹如在「园林」中穿梭。同时以苏州园林的造型元素为笔画设计的基础，在字体正负空间和视线转折的变化中产生游园的意境。通过对园林元素造型的借鉴，阅读视线的气脉的贯通和园林互动性设计手法的运用，以《枫桥夜泊》为例进行字体设计、海报设计以及视频创作，从而探索诗、书、画新的结合的可能性。
I try to introduce the design methods of chinese gardens into the font design of characters so as to generate a new kind of reading experience. The elements in image-designing of Suzhou gardens are used as the basis of the stroke design and in this way, the artistic conception of visiting a garden could be generated through the positive and negative space as well as turning points. The design firstly finds its reference from the elements in the image design of gardens, then emphasizes the fluent circulation of meridians and collaterals and applies the interactive design technique, after which the poem named Anchored Overnight at Maple Bridge is employed as case to conduct font design, poster design and video creation. In this way, the possibilities of combing the poem, calligraphy and painting are explored.
