GeckoStove.

GeckoStove was a product produced within a live project for a company called GoSystems. This company had many sister companies, TrekMates being one of them. TrekMates designed outdoor camping products for the everyday consumer. The target market were customers with a large budget which would enjoy a new experience of outdoor cooking, a new level of efficiency in regards to use and fuel consumption. 

Initially, research in use, fuel efficiency and styling was carried out.

Due to the inspiration found, a mixture of style, innovation, efficiency and user interface became desirable considerations of the project. Using drawings to explore possible new shapes compared to the current products on the market and a new way of using the stove became a primary focal point in the design. 

The above drawings display shapes and forms of a smooth yet sharp appearance which are appealing to the user and helps the product appear smaller than what it actually is. The design is able to be compact, robust and highly convenient. A camping stove that features a retractable strap that can fix upon structures vertical and horizontal acts as a height adjustment for the stove rather than a leg. The stoves cooking platform would also be able to level itself even if the stove is on an angle.

These drawings indicate the direction of development that the stove will take.

Final Design. 

The final design displays the unique octagon shape in every element. GeckoStove has the ability to be attached to any vertical or horizontal structure at any height with a tilt detection system allowing the cooking surface to remain level even if the stove itself is not. This not only makes cooking easier but heightens fuel and heat efficiency, due to the materials selected and wind protection design of the stove. This ensures the stove does not use excess gas to keep the flame at a healthy burn rate. The stove offers multiple cooking platforms such as a hot plate, BBQ grill plate, stewing dish, a lid and a piezo ignition system to enhance efficiency even further.

The GeckoStove is highly compact as it stores all the cooking platforms and the lid within the base of the unit which is held to the main body via magnets. Furthermore, the stove requires no leg for adjustment of height which aids the stove to be compact.
