the chromatic type
Here are the letters I created for project 2 in my Technical Processes class. These letters are from an accordion-fold poster of 6 pages, each page with a single letter to spell out one word. The word had to have three letters that were scanned type and image traced, as well as three letters that we found on buildings and were cut out of their backgrounds. We then had to design each letter using only two PMS colors. I struggled choosing colors, and in the end felt I could do more right now with two analogous colors of very different values. You can see some of the other colors I played with here. With the design, I looked to the designer I am studying in my Typography I class, Louise Fili. She often works with dimension and depth in her lettering, so I approached this project as a practice in gradients and opacities.
