The Last Giant Slayer

The last giant slayer was an illustration project created to pay homage to pro BMX Rider, Matt Hoffman. Who built a 24ft high quarter-pipe to break the world record for highest vertical air on multiple occasions. His endeavours would later inspire Danny Way to build the Mega Ramp and would eventually lead to the creation of the Big Air events featured at the X-games.
The project done during my second year of Multimedia and the Module was delivered by comic book artist and graphic novelist, Will Sliney. Who is best known for creating Celtic Warrior: The Legend of Cu Chulainn and working Spiderman 2099 for Marvel Comics. The project involved telling a story by using just six images where the main protagonist would begin with an overwhelming task to come out triumphant by the end.
The project went through a creative process which included multiple mood boards to establish desired emptions from potential audiences. A title poster for the story was also created as well as the final six drawn and illustrated images. Once roughly sketched, Adobe Photoshop & illustrator were used for the drawing and Google Sketchup for referencing and to get an idea of 3D depth and perspective. One finished, a final A1 poster was created showing the title image and the six story images.
