Museum Activity Book
Project: Redesign of membership activity book that is available only to members of the Milwaukee Public Museum.
Challenge: Created by the docents and educators, this book is meant to engage children and families with fun learning activities. Because each issue is very different, there wasn’t a consistent look and feel that would immediately indicate that this was a special item for members only.  It had an unprofessional look to it, instead of looking like a premium membership benefit.

Solution: The first part that was redesigned was the cover. Looking at it from an editorial aspect, of how we would show information in a hierarchy that was easy to follow. Since every issue promotes a single theme, we wanted to focus on that one image, while creating a piece that was clearly connected to the museum. Brand colors and type were used, and an element of the logo was incorporated as part of the overall design, allowing us to use whatever image would be the highlight. This resolved a number of issues which were quality of images we received, type of images, which ranged from photography, to illustration, to people.
The end result was a more sophisticated magazine that can be used as a selling point to attract new members.
