#ADOBEREMIX

After I had the the honour of developing the logo for the Adobe MAX Creativity Conference in 2017, Adobe invited me to join the Remix Series and to subsequently present the results during the conference. Adobe Remix to me meant a great opportunity to start an extensive analogue experiment, aiming at creating an extraordinary live experience.

My project partner Frédéric Wiegand and me created three different concepts and we were very excited when Adobe asked us to put into practice all three concepts.

My works generally focus on the staging of physical processes, especially in combination with typography in different areas of design. During my studies, I discussed three fundamental methods of interaction in this context: construction, deformation and environment. Our concepts for Adobe Remix reflect these three methods. Thanks to the extensive knowledge of my partner Frédéric, it was possible to realize three interpretations of the logo with different physical effects in the form of interactive exhibits.

BUBBLE WALL

The first method describes the construction of a character in the overall view, by means of the smallest units of a substance or an effect. Based on these considerations resulted the Bubble Wall, with its organic and dynamic appearance in the interplay of time, construction and deconstruction. The logo manifests only for the brevity of a moment in its perfect form, which slowly dissolves and disappears, just to subsequently emerge once more.

BLACK MIRROR

The Black Mirror uses the opposite method: Instead of constructing the character, the Black Mirror deforms it and thus explores the visual limitations of its readability. In its quality as a modular system, the exhibit offers a merger of different analogue effects and digital animations which create new elements of movement over and over again.

REMIXER

The Remixer focuses on the space surrounding the character: The logo itself becomes the protagonist in a scenario in which it is being playfully environed with the most diverse materials: Styrofoam beads, feathers, onion powder, flower petals and many more fill materials allow an always renewing overall impression.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Glycerin, ink, soap solution, electricity, rose petals, dry ice, water, duck feathers, styrofoam, nylon, ping-pong balls, acrylic glass, filament, polymer beads, onion granules... and plenty of sweat.

Many thanks to Grown for the magnificent recordings and for the tremendous patience on set, also to Adobe for their trust and their great support!
