Midnight Texas Launch

Jam were tasked to create an eye catching ident and endboard for NBC’s new show Midnight Texas. The show is about a small Texas town which is inhabited by all manner of supernatural beings, from vampires to angels through to witches and psychics.
NBC wanted to create an ident and endboard device that told the story of the town Midnight Texas, the occult which would intrigue the viewer to tune in.

NBC creative came up with the concept of having a Texas highway disappearing off into the distance, with a skull being the central piece of the ident.
Jam decided to create a 3D matte painting using Nuke for the environment. For the skull it was decided to project onto geometry using a retouched high res image again using Nuke to achieve this. CG then created flames and other pieces of the scene to composite into the final shot to give the finished over all look. The whole project had to be created in just a week.

The end results can be seen below along with links to the final spots
and breakdown.
