Competition | Poster for Tomorrow 2017

Poster for tomorrow is an independent, non-profit organization whose goal is to encourage people, both in and outside the design community, to make posters to stimulate debate on issues that affect us all.

This year brief was "a world where boundaries are becoming less and less meaningful. Now more than ever, we are one people. No matter where we live, we are all equally powerless in the face of war or environmental disaster."

"We still believe this, but electorates in the Western World responded by voting to close borders and build walls to keep foreigners out. A violent rhetoric of hatred and fear is being constructed around people who's only 'crime' is to be born in a foreign country. We want to refocus the debate around immigration to what lies at its heart: people."

Message:
People of different nationalities bring color, variety, and life to the world. If we put close borders and build walls to keep ‘them’ out, we will only descend into darkness.

FLEEING AMONG ART
Top 100 selected artworks
I placed three centered silhouettes made of horizontal lines and additive colors. Afterwards, I overlapped them with another silhouette of the same line pattern in black color. The cross between the lines produces interference between the colors, representing free transit and cultural integration.

My inspiration came from the artwork called Cromointerferencia de color aditivo by kinetic artist Carlos Cruz-Diez. This artwork is found in Maiquetia International Airport
(Caracas, Venezuela). Nowadays, this artwork is the starting point for thousands of emigrating Venezuelans that look forward to moving freely around the world and integrating with new cultures.
