The Stage
June 2017 // Contest // Group work

Creation of a new flexible hotel room. The aim is to find a new functionality for the rooms which are not rented during the day.
Our main purpose is to work on the very close environment of Novotel and to create a hyper-local business.
Hyperlocal connotes information oriented around a well-defined community with its primary focus directed toward the concerns of the population in that community. It’s relating to a very small geographical area, as a neighborhood.

Then, we have created The Stage to have a complete bedroom and in the same time an empty space to be adaptable to any kind of event and to make the organizers feel free to do whatever they want.
The night, the bed comes out of the stage as a drawer for the night. The other stairs are used as bedside tables or as accesses to the stage. On it, there is a tipping desk which can be also used as a simple tables and a wardrobe at the entrance. The suspended ceiling is made to hold the lights, especially the spot lights for the stage the day and the overhead projector.
The day, the bed is under the stage. The foldable chairs, before in the cupboards on each side of the stage, can now be used for the audience or even on the stage for the artists. The other cupboards are very discrete with the push-and-pull principle. It allows to store theatre material or other stuffs for organizers and artists like the trapdoors. The desk is tidy against the wall to let the place to a white screen which can be used for any events.
