Dear Design Data
Dear Design Data es una un proyecto dedicado a la recolección y análisis de información valiosa acerca de los estudiantes de diseño UC, que hoy en día no se tiene un seguimiento ni registro de esta.
Se diseñó una encuesta para conocer distintos aspectos de los estudiantes, donde ellos debían responderla de forma manual, haciéndolos más conscientes y participativos de este proceso. La encuesta fue creada para recolectar datos cualitativos, buscando analizar los distintos perfiles de estudiantes existentes, y las distintas habilidades que ellos decían tener. Se encuestaron a más de 100 alumnos de la Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
A partir de la información recopilada, se realizó una visualización de una plataforma web interactiva donde las personas o mismos alumnos podían acceder para revisar esta información. Se graficaron las distintas habilidades con el fin de comparar el número de alumnos con expertise en esas áreas. Este gráfico era interactivo, pues cada linea representaba una persona distinta, donde al pasar el cursor sobre este se podía conocer el perfil completo del estudiante, incluyendo sus gustos, habilidades específicas, y un pequeño portafolio de proyectos.
Esta herramienta permitiría la difusión de las habilidades y proyectos de los alumnos, aportando a una base de conocimiento colaborativo.
Dear Design Data aims to collect and analyze valuable information from design students from Chile, since today there is no actual follow up on their specific abilities or projects.
We designed a survey to get to know different aspects from students, where they had to fill it up manually, which made them more conscious and participative in the process. The survey collects qualitative data, where each student had to auto-evaluate its different habilites, role-play in groups, among other things. The survey was done to more that 100 design students from Universidad Católica de Chile.
With the collected data, we visualized an interactive web platform where people or students could access this information easily and interact with it. We graphed the different abilities in order to show the predominance of some of them, and at the same time the person using the platform could interact with this, where each line of the graph represented the person behind that ability, where at clicking it you could access its personal profile, seeing his personal hobbies, use of programs expertise, and also his or hers design projects. This enables to share this valuable information which can be very useful when looking for project references or for help in certain abilities.
