- Hraunfossar. The Colors of Autumn

Hraunfossar (Borgarfjörður, western Iceland) is a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 metres out of the Hallmundarhraun, a lava field which flowed from an eruption of one of the volcanoes lying under the glacier Langjökull. The waterfalls pour into the Hvítá river from ledges of less porous rock in the lava. The name comes from the Icelandic word for lava (hraun) and the word for waterfalls (fossar)

- Kerlingarfjöll, Geothermal area in the highlands of #Iceland

Kerlingarfjöll (1,477 m (4,846 ft)) is a mountain range in Iceland situated in the Highlands of Iceland near the Kjölur highland road. The volcanic origin of these mountains is evidenced by the numerous hot springs and rivulets in the area. And indeed, they are part of a large volcano system of 100km² (38.6 square mile). The volcanoes of the range are tuyas.

The earth is shimmering red in this area because of the volcanic rhyolite stone the mountains are composed of. Minerals that have emerged from the hot springs also color the ground yellow, red and green.

- Mountain Enni seen from Hólsbreið. Snæfellsnes, Iceland

Mountain Ólafvíkurenni or Enni is 418 m high, steepness and rock-ribbed mountain above village Ólafsvík at Snæfellsnes.  Avalanches slides often over the road witch lies in the ocean underneath Enni.
The Eastern side of the mountain, west from Ólafsvík has the name Ennishlíð and that is the side we are looking at.
The mountain rigs furthest on the photo are Búlandshöfði and Höfðakúlur

- Hvannalindir in the Vatnajökull National Park  - Highlands of Iceland

The Hvannalindir area is a vegetated oasis, 640 m above sea level, north of the Lindahraun lava field, sheltered by Mts Lindafjoll and the Krepputunguhraun lava field to the west and Ridge Kreppuhryggur to the east. In the Hvannalindir area, River Linda joins the River Lindakvisl, flowing from the southwest, where it branches out between vegetated banks past the freestanding crater Lindakeilir.

The name Hvannalindir is derived from the angelica, which thrives in the area undisturbed by the grazing livestock. It is an oasis and a unique ecosystem surrounded by deserts. The most conspicuous plants are willow and angelica at the edge of the lava and along rivulets, where the abundance is greatest.

- Hveravellir, Geothermal area in the highlands of #Iceland

Hveravellir  (Hot Spring Fields.) is an interesting geothermal area in the central highlands of Iceland. It is one of the pearls of Iceland, a nature reserve 650 meters above sea-level. After driving through the vast, barren highlands it is so lovely to encounter such an oasis.
There was an old route through this area, which is referred to in the Viking Sagas with the first references being from around year 900. This road is called Kjalvegur road.
There is a geothermal area here, which has been called the most beautiful geothermal area in Iceland. Here is also a lovely hot pool in which one can bathe. It is awesome sitting in this hot pool in the wilderness of Iceland, in between two of Iceland's glaciers, Langjökull and Hofsjökull glaciers.

Gullfoss - Frosen waterfall

Gullfoss is in the river Hvítá (engl. white river), which has its origin in the glacier lake Hvítávatn (engl. white river lake) at Lángjökull glacier about 40km north of Gullfoss.
Glacial water is brownish, since it carries lots of sediments that the glacial ice has carved off the earth. Gullfoss is called the "Golden Falls", since on a sunny day the water plunging down the three step staircase and then tumbeling in two steps down into the 32 m deep crevice truly looks golden.
