MOVIE POSTERS AND MAGAZINE DEVELOPMENT | MDA

Marbella Design Academy Project
Filmmakers have advertised their films by every mean conceivable. Film trailers, magazines, radio times and TV spots, sneak previews and revered publicity stunts of the great showmen of the past have all played a role in getting the attention of the public when a film needed selling. But for film fans all over the world, one area of film advertising remains especially connected to the heart of film-making: the movie poster.
This project required me to design three movie posters and a cinema theme magazine highlighting the movies.
Walle 2008
Thelma and Louise 1991
After researching the art movements of 1991, the year that Thelma and Louise was released, I discovered that it was the beginning of digital art. Due to this I decided to use photography and digital editing to create my poster in a modern style to celebrate that last year was the 25th anniversary of the film.
The Girl on the Train 2016
Throughout The Girl on the Train, there is a very big sense of mystery which I wanted to portray in my poster. This concept is shown in my work by the focal point of the subject, and her focused expression shown in her eyes, creating a sense of mystery as we, the viewers, have no idea as to what her attention is drawn to. My photography and use of colours make the overall atmosphere very dramatic, foreshadowing the film.
Advertisements are not my own
For my magazine, I created an overall brand design as well as making each article unique to its film. The Thelma and Louise movie article had an aged colour format to represent that it is the oldest featured film. I created a very visual article for Walle as it is a children's/family movie, and a modern design for The Girl on the Train.
