A beheaded corpse goes down the Magdalena River and runs ground in Puerto Berrío; there, it is buried as N.N. It’s a corpse attributed to war; thus, everybody avoids its tomb. One man has the courage to write on the tombstone “chosen one”: a promise that will take him to hell to find the head and return the body’s dignity.

Un decapitado baja por el río Magdalena y encalla en Puerto Berrío, allí lo sepultan como un NN. Es un muerto proscrito por los poderosos de la guerra, por eso todos esquivan su tumba. Solo un hombre misterioso tiene el valor de escribir en su lápida “escogido”: una promesa que lo llevará hasta el infierno para encontrar la cabeza y así devolverle su dignidad.
