Title sequence for a college project.

The Future is a book by Al Gore that outlines what he thinks is going to be the most disruptive 'drivers of change' that we can expect in the near future. Gore highlights 6 'drivers of change', one for each chapter in the book. These include things like global warming, artificial intelligence, the future of healthcare and human augmentation etc. In this project I was asked to make a thirty-second title sequence for a fictional documentary series based on the Gore's book. Approximately 95% of the footage and animation featured in this title sequence are my own original work.
Photo compositing.  This title sequence was the first substantial piece of moving image I have ever made. With this being said, before starting the project I had quite a basic knowledge in Adobe After Effects; fortunately my Photoshop skills translated well to After Effects; and some of the scenes in this montage of moving image were animated photo compositions.
Abstract macro footage. The two top images here are macro films of washing-up liquid (left) and sugar (right) being heated in a frying pan. The large image below them is black ink flowing over heavily saturated surface.
Line Animation. Due to having a tight deadline and very little prior animation experience I had to resort to reasonably low-tech animation solutions like animating paths from Adobe Illustrator as you see here.
