The Unexpected Blossom

What if there is a way of seizing those beautiful encounters?

Taiwan is a humid country where mold unexpectedly appears everywhere in our day to day life.  The impression of mold is usually unpleasant, while little do we notice, the colors, textures, and patterns are unique and fascinating.

The objective and attempt of this project is to twist the image of mold and invite the audience to appreciate the beauty of mold.  The existence of mold implies the idea of time and space, and every piece has its own distinctive visual that tells its story.

As the project originally determined to be experimental, furniture was chosen to be the vehicle as it’s an object that the audience will not only look at, but also will have direct physical contacts with.

The Unexpected Blossom was inspired by the discovery in daily life.  With the goal of thoroughly presenting every detail of mold, remaining the colors and fiber completely was the biggest challenge for us.  Every single factor could change the outcome of the project so we had spent most of the time on this problem, although we believe there is still a room for improving.  Maybe let me know what you think:)
