The USE-ME project comes from the interest in the discussion of the designer's role as an author, and not just as a message emissary. Giving voice to personal projects, that inspire us so much, opposing the commercial demands, allowing the creative side to flourish - or, in a way, a somehow nihilistic point-of-view, without the intention of achieving profits and focusing on questionings and personal interests - and revealing other aspects, a more free way of building yourself as a designer, a professional, and in a way, human being.
The project was born from all sorts of questions that relate to my own biography, and an interest of dealing with life as an "piece of art", or an object of an analysis. An open autobiography that emerges from the main questioning: Why not use my own life, thoughts, (dis)beliefs and body as and object of investigation? Why not use myself as a project, process, and final product?
The need to use myself as creator and creature, observing the city as a field of artistic investigation and new sensorial possibilities, revealing other ways to analyse and study the urban space through experiences and perspectives. Discovering new ways of designing and understanding the city as a field of investigation with countless possibilities.
This project intends to be the debut of more work - that may extend through all my life - and is already becoming an source of inspiration to many other projects to come. Accepting myself as a researcher, and, why not, also the research.
