When coming up with the initial design intent of the MB1 my driving insight was clear – the most explosive hoopers excel at transitioning horizontal forces to vertical lift, and most of this force is displaced on the lateral forefoot of the shoe.
The primary challenge was how to functionally bring support to this part of the shoe without overbuilding it? And secondly, how can I create a forefoot focused aesthetic for this shoe that visually hints at this idea of zonal support? How can we bring such a sneaker to market at $100, while still exploring overall silhouette and material mix?
Keep an eye out for this one on NBA and NCAA courts this season.
