The President of Olympus tasked me with starting and running a monthly employee newsletter. Olympus (www.olympusinc.com) is a janitorial services company with over 1,000 employees nationwide. It provides service mainly for higher education locations across the country. This includes Arizona State University, University of Nevada Reno, Eastern Virginia Medical School, California State University San Marcos and Ursinus College. It also services the US Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC.

I handle all aspects of the writing, editing, and design and layout of every issue. I solicit input from the directors and managers of the various company locations, which I use to write articles about the sites, the outstanding services they provide and exceptional employees. Additionally, I research articles about various topics including safety and human resources. Working within the framework I developed, I fit the text and photos. As a substantial number of employees speak Spanish, a version in Spanish is also made. This involves working with several translators and fitting the longer Spanish text into the same space as the English text. I also work with the printer to ensure accurate reproduction and handle distribution throughout the company.
