Thesis:

Our society focuses on categorizing people by the masses based on generalizations and assumptions. By using engaging visuals and interactive elements that highlight the similarities and the differences of each individual we can come to the conclusion that the people who compose our society are all the same, however, we all have our individual stories that make us unique.

Process:

I originally wanted to challenge my viewers to question how we view our society. Often times, our society focuses on categorizing and stereotyping individuals based off of first impressions. In my exhibition, I challenged my viewers to get to know the individuals before making any assumptions.

After sending out a survey, I received 50 responses from individuals of all different backgrounds. I used this information to compile into my exhibition to inform the viewer of all the possible outcomes in someone’s life. By using engaging visuals, such as photography, typography, and iconography I was able to create a piece that was interactive to the viewer.
