''Un giorno scendendo le scale che portano al ciglio del Tevere ho trovato un pianoforte abbandonato.
Fin da quando ero piccola avrei voluto suonare il pianoforte. Quello che avevo davanti a me quel momento era rovinato, sporco, aveva solo alcun tasti ancora funzionanti. I martelletti scoperti al contatto con le corde arrugginite producevono note stonate.
Quel pianoforte, ho pensato, sicuramente aveva avuto una sua vita' in passato, una vità che ormai non gli apparteneva più, senza nessuno che lo suonasse o qualcuno che ne ascoltasse le sue melodie.
In quel momento ho deciso di dargliene una nuova, di farlo rivivere attraverso la pittura. I suoi tasti se non potevano più produrre armonie sonore avrebbero creato un'armonia di colori da sentire con gli occhi. I suoi spettatori, i gabbiani, il fiume, gli alberi sulle rive del Tevere avrebbero potuto ascoltare il suo concerto muto ed il pianoforte avrebbe tornato a svolgere la sua funzione fondamentale: dare vità all'arte.''
"One day as I was walking down the stairs leading to the banks of the Tiber, I stumbled across an abandoned piano.
From a young age I had dreamed of being able to play the piano. The instrument I found before me was battered and filthy, while only a handful of its keys were in working order. The hammers were uncovered and would produce jarring notes upon impact with the rusty strings.
The piano, I thought, must have had a fascinating life, a life that no longer existed, with no-one around to play it or to listen to its melodies.
At that moment, I decided to bring it back to life, to revive it through painting. If its keys could no longer produce harmonic sounds, it could at least produce a harmony of colours to be experienced visually. Those close to it, seagulls, the river and the trees lining the banks of the Tiber, would have front row seats for its silent concert, while the piano would resume its most crucial function - bringing art to life.''

Çocukluğumdan beri piyano çalmayı hayal ederdim. O anda karşımda bulunan ise yıpranamış, kirlenmiş, hala çalışan ancak birkaç tuşa sahip bir piyanoydu. Açıkta kalmış çekiçleri, paslanmış tellere dokunduklarında bozuk notalar çıkarıyorlardı.

İzleyicileri martılar, nehir kenarındaki ağaçlar onun sessiz konserini deneyimleyebilecek, o da böylece hayattaki temel amacını, bir sanat eseri oluşturma amacını yerine getirmiş olacaktı.''
