BagiTag - Wireless Luggage Tracker

 THE WORST NIGHTMARES FOR TRAVELLERS

One of worst nightmares for travellers is probably to wait and fight in the queue to see if their luggage arrives on the conveyor belt in the airport terminal. Hence we start to wonder if we can design a device that is able to alert people when their luggage arrives, to alarm them if it is stolen and help the airport staff with a search function when the luggage is lost.

According to WorldTracer data from SITA in 2015, the total number of mishandled bags is 23.1 million, and missing bags cost the industry USD 2.3 billion. And yet, most of the existing smart trackers are pricey and require frequent battery change due to high power consumption. This stimulated us to consider the possibility to design and develop a luggage tracker that is both affordable and battery-saving.

Bag iTag is a Bluetooth wireless connected device to help travellers keeping their luggage on track again. With ideas of affordability, simplicity, durability and user-friendly in mind, the gadget will notify the user once their luggage has arrived on a specific mobile application.
The special share information function also allows other people, such as airport staff, to help to search for the lost luggage. Unlike most of the existing design, the user is able to preserve their favourite luggage tag and at the same time keep the luggage in check.

Designed as an exclamation mark that is easy to recognise and yet ergonomically supporting the stress and shocks of a luggage travelling, BagiTag helps travellers to track their luggage.

It's tiny, Bluetooth enabled and waterproof with a battery life of up to 2 years. The rewritable back label allows the travellers to write and change the trip details.

With concepts of affordability, simplicity, durability and user-friendly during design, Bag iTag is attached to the luggage and communicates via Bluetooth with the mobile devices (iPhone or Android) via a dedicated app. When travelling, users can relax at luggage arrivals as they will be notified, via a secure mobile app, once their luggage has reached the carousel.
