    Brand identity for Quay Ingredient. A coffee house on the Newcastle Quayside.
Produce an identity for Quay Ingredient, a new coffee house opening just off Newcastle’s Quayside.
The identity is to include signage, flyers, menu, and website.

After discussions with the owners it was decided that industrial chic would be the brands theme. The coffee house is located directly underneath the famous Tyne Bridge and I felt that with such a prominent location this could form a major influence on the design. The logo is made up of custom logotypes. The cursive forms of ‘Quay’ are inspired by the shapes of nautical knots and ropes. In contrast the word ‘Ingredient’ is much industrial referencing Newcastle’s rich ship building heritage. 

I created supporting elements based on the shapes used within the structure of bridges. These are used in order to help strengthen the brand and further put across the industrial influences. The colour palette is predominantly black and white, however orange is used as an accent in order to add a sense of warmth. This helps to create a friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which reflects the personalities of the owners.
