PROJECT OF 1978

'PROJECT OF 1978'  was the first part of my final major project. The assignment was to select year, and research music, television and major influences in that year, before picking someone to create a design on. I'm a Blondie fan and so choose to do an illustration drawing of Andy Warhol's famous photograph of Debbie Harry.
'KLAUSE VOORMAN' i decided to look at the illustration style of KLAUSE VOORMAN, the designer of the famous BEATLES album REVOLVER. I found his designs inspiring.
'ANDY WARHOL' was an obvious person to look at since he took the beautiful photograph of DEBBIE HARRY, i wanted to delve into his passion and understand how he wanted her to look in his photograph.
This was one of my first illustrations of DEBBIE, and the one that won me over in the end. I used a variety of different pencils for this sketch, I tried to pick up on her main features, lips and hair.
My second version of the pencil drawing, done using a black pen, i decided i needed a cleaner version for scanning into my computer and filtering.
After many changes I decided for my final piece i would go back to the beginning and use my original drawing with some editing, i gave the illustration a dirty look to bring out the essence of rock and roll.
