Title: The Horse

Technique: DSLR Camera, f20, 1/250 sec, ISO-400

Process:
This photo of a horse was taken with a DSLR camera, in post production, the image was cropped for an improved composure and the vibrancy and clarity of the image was increased.

Reasoning:
While the Ekka has become a kind of local festival, it's original purpose and one of it's primary draws is that of an agricultural expo.

Reflection:
I am quite happy with the results of this image and feel that it reflects an improvement in my skills with a DSLR Camera.
Title: Showbag

Technique: iPhone 5s Camera, f2.2, 1/33 sec, ISO-160

Process:
Taken with an iPhone 5s Camera and touched up in photoshop, with increased vibrancy and contrast.

Reasoning:
One of the most famous aspects of the Ekka are it's showbags, and this wall of lollies from the local dollar shop serves as a reminder of those showbags.

Reflection:
While not nearly as out of focus as previous photos taken withe my phone, this image still reflects a lower quality than those taken with a DSLR Camera. The touch ups to vibrancy and contrast have greatly improved this image however.
Title: Ekka on the Coast

Technique: DSLR Camera, f7.1, 1/2000 sec, ISO-200

Process:
This photo of Currumbin Beach was taken from atop elephant rock using a DSLR Camera, and has been cropped and edited for vibrancy and saturation in photoshop.

Reasoning:
On the Gold Coast, the Ekka public holiday is not celebrated, this photo is a play on that, documenting the relatively empty beach given the circumstances.

Reflection:
This image is out of focus, I believe this is partial due to how windy it was on the day I took this photo, but I believe that the lens I was using was also having trouble with the wide angle of the image, as some closer objects that were cropped out were significantly more in focus.
Title: Dagwood

Technique: DSLR Camera, f16, 1/320 sec, ISO-400

Process:
This image was taken at a local park, most of the time was spent trying to find an angle that would maintain an interesting and reasonable lighting. In post processing it was edited for clarity and vibrancy.

Reasoning:
Dagwood dog's or Pluto Pups are a famous food commonly found at the Ekka, and this photo of my sister eating one is my homage to the food.

Reflection:
This image has been cropped significantly and is slightly out of focus, this suggests that it was not entirely in focus to begin with.
Title: Bertie Beetle

Technique: 0.5 B Pacer on 120gsm Sketch Paper

Process:
Drawn on sketch paper, scanned for a digital copy and touched up in photoshop.

Reasoning:
The Bertie Beetle Showbags are one of the most famous and well known aspects of the Ekka. The Bertie Beetle chocolates are disgusting and have a frankly creepy mascot, so the obvious solution for my final Ekka image was to parody Bertie Beetle.

Reflection:
Another attempt at cell shading, this image is less impressive than the last attempt. I also had problems scanning the image due to the sketch book it was in, resulting in a distortion and fade along the left edge.
