For an outsider the carnival festival in Aalst seems like a weird messed up travesty show went wrong. However an Oilsjteneir (inhabitant of Aalst) doesn't see this as travesty. The tradition to dress up as a 'voil janet' arose when men started wearing the old clothes of their wives because they were to poor to buy costumes. This video attempts to confuse the viewer by blurring the lines between a travesty show and the drunk, weird and dirty open air festival that Oilsjt Carnaval really is.
