Getting to the core...of the core...of bamboo!
In bamboo, as with other grasses, the inner regions of the plant stem are hollow and the cross sections are scattered throughout the stem instead of in a cylindrical arrangement. The woody xylem is also absent, which causes the stems to be columnar rather than tapering. Bamboo is also the fastest growing woody plant in the world. They are capable of growing up to24 inches or more per day. Bamboos are of notable economic and cultural significance in Southeast Asia where the stems are used extensively in everyday life as building materials and as a highly versatile raw product, and the shoots as a food source. The Bamboo Twist Tables measure 26x22x22"h and are available in light and dark stains. A black lacquered top and bottom for the dark and aluminum for the light.
