Waterscape is the acronym of water and landscape. It names a landscape where water has a strong presence. The site is carved by the water. The sinkholes together with the watercourses and the run-off have shaped the terrain. The Golf Hotel Architectural Preliminary Design should respect the current hydrological system in order to allow and enhance the natural movement of the water. Klekovaca hydrological conditions are related to its geological composition. The limestone area is without fresh water, while numerous springs and small surface streams exist on dolomite terrains. The occurrence of springs is also related to contact between limestone and dolomite.
“Waterscape” es el acrónimo en inglés de agua y paisaje. Designa un paisaje donde el agua tiene una fuerte presencia. El lugar ha sido tallado por el agua. Las dolinas junto con los cursos de agua y las escorrentías han dado forma al terreno. El diseño preliminar del Golf Hotel debería respetar el sistema hidrológico actual con el fin de permitir y propiciar el movimiento natural del agua. Las condiciones hidrológicas de Klekovaca están vinculadas con la composición geológica de su firme. La zona de composición arcillosa no presenta agua en superficie, mientras que numerosos arroyos y pequeñas corrientes existen en los terrenos dolomitas. La presencia de arroyos se vincula también con el contacto entre arcillas y dolomitas.
Surface forms of karst erosion are very common: sinkholes, semi-sinkholes and karrens. The area is fully perforated and carved by sinkholes. A sinkhole is a depression or hole in the ground caused by some form of collapse of the surface layer. In Klekovaca area sinkholes are caused by karst processes, by the chemical dissolution of carbonate rocks. The sinkholes dimensions can vary from 1 meter to 40 meters. Sinkholes are alived. They are feed by the natural run-off and connected by underground watercourses. All these water marks should be preserved in order to allow the natural movement of the water. It is necessary to define a protection area / distance of 10 m. around of sinkholes, underground watercourses and runf-off.
Las formas de la erosión kárstica en superficie son muy comunes: dolinas, semi-dolinas, lapiaces. El área está completamente perforada y tallada por dolinas. Una dolina es una depresión en el terreno causada por algún tipo de colapso de la capa superficial. En la zona de Klekovaca las dolinas son originadas por procesos kársticos, por la disolución química de las rocas compuestas por carbono. Las dimensiones de estas dolinas pueden variar entre 1 metro y 40 metros de diamétro. Estas dolinas están vivas. Las corrientes de escorrentía las alimentan, estando conectadas entre sí por corrientes subterráneas. Todas estas marcas de agua deben ser preservadas para permitir el movimiento natural del agua. Es necesario definir definir un área de protección con un radio de 10 metros alrededor de las dolinas, escorrentías y cursos subterráneos de agua.
Sinkholes are an amazing landscape. They are sinking topography with trees, rocks and vegetation on its interior. Sinkholes as its name suggests drain the natural watercourses. They create an inner rich and wet landscape. If you reach sinkhole bottom you will feel in the interior of a dynamic and vibrant landscape.
Las dolinas constituyen un paisaje espectacular. Suponen un hundimiento del terreno con árboles, rocas y vegetación en su interior. Crean un paisaje húmedo de gran riqueza drenando el agua de diferentes cursos. Al alcanzar la parte inferior de una dolina, nos encontramos en el interior de un paisaje vibrante y dinámico.

How is it possible to design a hotel around sinkholes? It should preserve and enhance sinkholes. It should allow water flow and the same time it should take advantage of this beatiful landscape. For these reason hotel morphology integrates with landscape and wraps around sinkholes.
¿Cómo es possible diseñar un hoter alrededor de estas dolinas? Debería preservarlas y al mismo tiempo potenciarlas. Debería permitir que el agua fluyese y al mismo tiempo aprovechar este paisaje. Así, la morofología del hotel se integra con estos elementos envolviéndolos.
