BUILIDNG MAPPING AND SITE MAPPING

BUILDING MASSING AND SITE MAPPINGS
FLOOD PLAIN
This mapping shows the inverse of the flood plain located on the site, which gives a clue to the volume of water collected on the site during flooded times. This mapping was very informative as to give the location on the site where the building should most likely sit without having to be supported by pilotis to keep the lowest finish floor above the highest flood elevation.

TREE MAPPING
This is a mapping of the location of the coniferous trees on the site. These trees do not have leaves and therefore cast a full shadow year round. The area in red locates the preferable area to place a building on the site so that the maximum amount of solar gain can be acquired.

SHAPING SITE
This mapping shows the linear directions that the apartments sit.  The lines depicted seemed to create pockets of space that were then taken and implemented into the building plan.  The blue in the mapping seems to separate the green and yellow from the red. In the building design, the green was taken over the blue to bridge the gap between the green and red.  This process created space for driveway and drop-off space to be located beneath the green space.

STREAM TO BEAM
This mapping shows the major directions the stream runs along the site.  Intersections from these lines were used to create an overall form of a building.

TREE MAPPING
This mapping, like the first maps the coniferous trees on located on the site. The blue lines map the trees from north to south and the red lines map them east to west. The form that came from them created a good start of a building plan and can easily become an overall section of a building as well, which will be developed soon.
