TRIPPY! // App Design
Trippy! is a user experience focused travel app concept created by fellow SCAD alumni, Abby McCormick and Iman Sinnokrot, and myself. Trippy! provides users with a “one-stop-shop” platform for finding the most affordable vacations, travel planning, transportation, and lodging, eliminating any need for other travel-based apps. It is targeted towards budget conscious millennials who aspire to travel. A unique feature of this app is that the user experience of this app starts by asking the consumer about budget and time restrictions rather than a desired location. This allows a young person with a set budget to search for and schedule trips during a break or vacation days.
Through the experience of collaborating with fellow designers, I learned how to both lead a team and communicate the reasoning behind my design decisions. I was accountable not only to myself and the client, but also to my team members. Through this project I came to understand how strong of an asset collaboration between designers really is. Because of the collaborative nature of this assignment, every decision was thoughtfully made, considered by each group member from their unique perspective. When focusing on user experience, collaboration was a unique asset. We were able to draw insight not only from our own knowledge, but also from survey research designed to better understand user-based travel issues from a broader base.
Although Trippy! was an extremely collaborative project, we were each responsible for certain aspects of the app, which we then collectively edited. I was specifically responsible for the interface of the onboarding and flight booking sequence and interface. I also played a large role in implementing our color pallet to both meet our aesthetic and to communicate hierarchy.
