SPOONFUL OF SPICE// Marketing Materials
The objective of this project was to create concept based marketing materials for a travel tour company. The concept I explored was called “A Spoonful of Spice;” referring to the common phrase “a little spice in your life.” These marketing materials were created for the fictional Ven Go Agency’s Asian cooking tours. The tour book features six different tours that allow you to travel through Asia taking cooking lessons from professional chefs in their homes. The promotional item, spice-infused chocolate spoons, refers directly to the concept of adding a little metaphoric spice into life.
What I enjoyed most about this project was not only creating a visually impactful concept, but art directing the photography that went into branding materials. By directing the imagery, I was able to control all aspects of the design process, down to the last detail. This allowed me to create a truly comprehensive visual identity. I worked with SCAD alum and photographer, Meredith Webb, to figure out how to visually represent my concept.
Overall, I believe I successfully communicated a clear aesthetic across multiple platforms. This project included a tour book, folder, business card, promotional item and interactive PDF. The aesthetic I tried to achieve was modern, clean, and playful yet mature. I felt as though this aesthetic spoke to my target audience, which was middle to upper-class adults from the ages of 35-55. It was imperative that the design would communicate to both men and women and for the visual materials to demonstrate positive attributes of the Ven Go Agency.
