Iceberg Village 2 | 3D Animation

Fase 3.
3D animation (Exterior + Interior)
Construction and animation of one of the houses in a 3D software (Cinema 4D). I chose the same house I animated before, the city hall / Mayor's home. For it's exterior I had to adapt some things that weren't present in the 2D illustration. One of them was the way people entered in the home through the tube and how that transport worked. As I also couldn't use any transparency, the look had to be flat, I had to find a way to adapt the house's glass walls.

Exterior / Wide Space

The Entrence / Transport

Interior / Furniture
For it's interior I though about very modernist and futuristic furniture with very weird an wavy shapes. Before I started modeling I reasearched lots of visual references on modernist design.

Style Frames
The city hall atrium, the city hall's second floor, the mayor's bedroom (house)

Storyboard
At the time I had two options of storyboards with two different narratives. In one of them we followed a common person of the village point of view as he/she visits the city hall, and the other was told in the mayor's point of view as we saw he's morning routine from the moment he wakes up until the moment he enters the city hall to work in his office. As the two stories were a little bit limited by themselfs, both were eventually combined in the final animation were we now have to kinds of visitor, which bring together the two components of this house.

Cinema 4D - Final animation
The walls were opened in some places to let the light in, once I couldn't represent the actual glass, what combined with the modern interior gave even more of a futuristic feeling to the house.
The background music has the same feeling as the one used in the 2D animation although a little more complex as the animation itself. This time the bubbles were not only used as a way to set the background but also as a way to highlight the emergence of the most important items. I also accentuated the arrival of the elevator to the floors, otherwise we wouldn't look at it. As the real sounds of the objects weren't really working in this underwater scene, more electrical sounds were used for their construction, what highlighted even more their futuristic side.
