Robert Palmer 'Lyric Typography' | Illustration Project
This project that began in mid September was based around the idea of designing an illustration poster for the Robert Palmer song ‘I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On’, by the way of including various elements from the official music video and placing them together in a simple almost-abstract fashion.
The illustrations themselves would consist of a microphone, the model’s legs, an electric guitar, and a film reel used to represent the film set location made noticeable throughout the video.
In terms of textures and effects to help push the design that little bit further, I decided to go with the partly scratched and slightly faded look made popular on album covers and promo videos during the mid 1980s.
For the display mockup I decided to go with a black frame, with a gradient background that would take two colours from the final outcome and combine them together.
So, be sure to tell me what you think in the comment section below!
