In this project photographs are recreated in order to better understand the way that someone else in the past saw something.
The photograph can be both an imprint of reality and the most well crafted lie. The study and re-creation of others photographs gives an insight as to what their challenges were and how they are dealt with at the time the photograph is made. The way in which we see can be better understood when we learn how others see and understand the world around them. The purpose of this rephotograph of a Steichen self portrait is to show as a document what I learned from making this picture. After all, it is about the process not the photograph. Which usually is not the case, it is usually about the end product, the final photograph. However curiously enough that is not what it is about this time.
