Playing with reality
Karel Martens & Jan Van Toorn
This project consists of two booklets binded by a strip. One booklet is dedicated to Jan Van Toorn and the other one to Karel Martens, two influential dutch graphic designers. Each booklet unfolds to show a poster/composition on the back side.
The goal is to relate and show the work of two of the most important dutch graphic designers who influenced the transition from the modernism to the post-modernism.

They both have an artistic and theoretical basis and set their work in the creation of meaning, by themselves or by the public, rather than just giving it a smooth stylistic aspect. Though, both are known for dealing with design and art with a subjective, personal and enjoyable approach, always putting forth their own ideas and theory and thus, co-creating the printed matter, with form in relation to content. Their designs are fresh and expressive and are the result of their convictions and reflexions.
