Xiang - app concept for 'Unsolving the City’ Shanghai

The concept of Xiang was built during 2-week workshops named ‚Unsolving the city’ in Shanghai, China. In team consisting of me and four Shanghai Normal University students we had to design something for tourist to help them explore the authenticity of Xiang - one of not many remaining old poor districts, that was soon to be demolished. We explored the district and decided to focus on its sounds f.e. haggling at flea market or crickets next to an old temple. In the app user could find a tourist routes map .The points on the routes were neither described nor pictured, but signed with an audio record. That would lead a person through interesting spots and let them discover the true district.
