Black and white worlds

Black and white worlds
Roma in the majority society in Slovakia

The world unknown to us through personal experience is perceived as a world that is the opposite of ‘ours’. It is inhabited by people often perceived as enemies and, in extreme cases, as subhumans. Messages from this world are inevitably simplified and distorted, as they pass through a reciprocal filter of group expectations.

How does the Roma world look through the eyes of the non-Roma? How do they treat each other? The answers to these questions are offered by this publication. The experts in the field of Romani studies peek into both worlds and offer their own testimonies.
