PARADIGM ISSUE

The war memorial museum is an architectural attempt to capture the essence of war and express it in ‘form and function’ in order to foster a closer interaction and a deeper understanding of war as a process, by the general public. It is proposed that the center becomes a sculptural landmark and thus is a constant reminder to Ugandans about “where we have been in our history, and where we need to be in future”. By describing a journey punctuated by five highlights, the center creates a comprehensive and deeply moving picture of the war cycle, and how it has The Typo-logical purpose of a Museum is not just to archive and display the past, but to manifest the sensation of that depicted era. It’s in this typology we find the capacity to create unique spatial experiences.

The design of this museum takes inspiration from the Wars that have happened

on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, dating back from the Hellenistic eras to the recent World Wars. Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, or Sahel as it is more commonly called, wasn’t the usual go to destination for leisure; in fact it was mostly an area of battlegrounds. The city of Alamein, the site where the Museum is, witnessed the battles of World War II. The architectural composition and circulation of the Museum will embody the sensation of War. As well as the composition, the dichotomy between the exterior and interior space will depict the strife that soldiers had to endure. The location of this museum in Alamein is not only dependent on the historical context of the city, but also the importance of having cultural buildings in a new city, whose future urban interests will mostly be commercial or residential.

MASS CONCEPT

The methodology of the form process is an expression of the crush, cracking, & worry that was resulted from the war experience of the mediterranean cities in egypt, So the main used formation tool to simulate the Conflict is the fragmantation. the design can contact with the user by transmitting the emootions of the beuilding complaining the antithetic & conflicted feelings through sharp angles & wedgy edges showing its experiments through all of the battles that happened in the maditerranean area in egypt.
